Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to become involved at Generations......and volunteers are needed and appreciated. You can get involved today through our:

Volunteer Committee
If you have time and want to make a real difference, please consider joining our Volunteer Committee and help plan and execute activities throughout the year. We meet quarterly and have a great time brainstorming new ways to help promote GGH and to help our boys get the most out of their stay at Generations. Please email or call 864-243-5557 x269 to get started.

Volunteer Visitors Program
Sometimes it's the time we give that means the most. The purpose of Volunteer Visitors is to provide opportunities for members of the community to come to our campus and spend some much appreciated time with a resident who does not receive many visits from his family due to the distance they must travel, or who may not even have much family involvement at all. Volunteering is easy. Simply download the Volunteer Visitors Packet or contact Charlene Jones, GGH Child Care Services Director. You may email Charlene or call 864-243-5557 x222 and let her know what day you would like to visit.

Host a Star Party
Each Friday Generations has a party! All our boys who have earned this party, based on behavior through the week, will attend. This is an excellent opportunity for your group to come and spend 2 hours with the boys in a fun and interactive activity. Some favorite things have been karaoke, bingo, adult tricycle races, sports competitions, and pizza & a movie.  It can include a meal, or just an activity with a treat and beverage. For more information on this activity, or to schedule a Star Party for your group please email Jeff Bowers, Volunteer Star Party Coordinator.

Luncheon Table Captains
You can share your time and resources to help make our Annual Luncheon for Second Chances a big success. While the event is each May, we start working toward the next one a full year in advance by identifying Table Captains throughout the year. In turn, our Table Captains are active in identifying guests for their table and inviting them to a Success Express Tour at GGH, or inviting a GGH speaker into your group to present an overview of our program. You can help spread the word about GGH and help us financially be able to continue this great work for our boys. Please email Roseanne Brown or call 864-243-5557 x269 for more details.

Motivational Speakers
Speakers are requested for events like Black History Month, Fire Prevention Month, etc. Or, if you have a topic of interest and can give us a few hours of your time, please let us know. We are always looking to expand our boys’ knowledge in any way possible. Please email Roseanne Brown or call 864-243-5557 x269 with your ideas!

Career Day
Career Day allows the boys to talk one-on-one with professionals from our community. This day, scheduled in September, can be an important part of motivating him to pursue additional education or training once he leaves Generations. Come and share your particular profession with our boys! For more details, please email our Director of Education, Linda Barnett or call her at 864-243-5557 x251.

Share a Skill
We sincerely appreciate the sharing of skills by community volunteers and invite you to introduce our boys to new skills and hobbies. Do you paint, knit, crochet, draw, build things, play an instrument, have a hobby or craft you'd like to share? We're open to new ideas and would love to hear from you! To get started or talk about some ideas, please email Roseanne Brown or call 864-243-5557 x269.

Special Events
You can participate in special meals, birthday parties, holidays, festivals, etc. There are opportunities for bringing food and/or serving food to our boys. Take a look at our Upcoming Events. The boys always appreciate it when people from the community come out to support them.

Office Assistance
You can be a big help in the Development Office. Please email Roseanne Brown or call 864-243-5557 x269 for more information.
