Annual GGH 500 Pinewood Derby Race

Saturday August 21 from 10 am-2 pm

It is time to get our engines tuned up for the annual GGH 500 Pinewood Derby Race!  If you are not familiar with the GGH 500, each boy turns a car kit consisting of a small block of wood, 2 axles, and 4 wheels into a pinewood masterpiece!  These guys put their all into their cars, and dream of taking that checkered flag on the Pinewood Derby indoor track, first for their House in the eliminations and then for the Championship race!   It is intense.  In addition to the race, our Race Day guests are asked to vote on the cars for the Best Paint Job and the Best Design and each house will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner in each category

The GGH 500 event is the main funding source of the GGH Boy Scout troop that provides a LOT of recreation activities for the boys.  Activities that give the boys a chance to experience the joy of being a kid!  Individuals, companies, civic organizations, Sunday school classes, book clubs, etc are all invited to participate in this event through sponsorships as well as volunteer opportunities available for this event:

Pit Sponsor, Track Sponsor, Starting Line Sponsor and Finish Line Sponsors - $50.00 each

Car Sponsor - $25 each

On Race Day the Elimination Races begin at 10 a.m.   Lunch is served beginning at 11:30 a.m.  with The Norris Ware Memorial Race is run immediately following, and finally the Race for title of GGH 500 Champion!!    All activities should be over by 2 p.m.
